Two years ago we acquired a property on the east side of Sonoma just a mile from the square. Ultimately we want to retire in Sonoma but for now we have to rent the property. Because we have two cottages we named the place Petites Maison; -- and position the experience as Provance in Sonoma. As a welcoming gift to our renters we wanted to create the ultimate expression of Sonoma: a great bottle of Sonoma wine. We are now pleased to have a bottle of 04 Petites Maisons Carneros;Los Madres; Syrah waiting for every guest (thank you Crushpad).We are most excited to have fellow wine lovers experience Petite Maison and enjoy the late afternoon sun filtering through the olive tree next to the pool while the smell of grilling Sonoma lamb chops fills the air. The ideal day starts with a walk to the square for pastries and coffee at the Basque Bakery. Passing Ravenswood on the right and Sebastini on the left sets to tone for a day of tasting Sonomas finest. One of the first decisions is your mode of travel: walk, bicycle or car? Four new bikes/helmets are ready to roll. I suggest a dip in the pool/spa before dinner and a final glass of while while recapping the days adventure around the fire pit. And the next day? Repeat.For dining out in Sonoma we recommend Cafe LeHaye (our favorite) as well the The El Dorado Kitchen. The Girl and the Fig is another popular spot on The Square. If you feel the need for great, casual Mexican food, the locals head to the colorful Juanita, Juanita. Marys Pizza Shack on The Square serves up a good pizza and salad. We could go on forever but you need to do some exploring for yourself.The area, climate, day trip options, restaurants, local produce and general community have exceeded our expectations.
