It's hot here in Southern California, so it's going to be a white & rose' weekend for us.
2004 Torii Mor Pinot Gris
2005 Saint Roch Les Vignes Rose
2004 Chateau D' Aqueria Tavel Rose
(Saint Roch Les Vignes Rose is a summertime staple at our house.....reminds me of afternoons spent in Provence!).
What wines do you want to open this weekend?
I opened my first 05 Unti
I opened my first 05 Unti Zin. I was a cellar rat there in 05 so it was pretty nice to finally get to taste the results.
Was mighty tasty. Clean, balanced...

Marilyn, How was the
Marilyn,
How was the Torii Mor? Dave G. and I picked up a '98 a few weeks back that we haven't uncorked. Paul, our CTO, also brought in a massive TM dessert wine a couple weeks back too. Big, big, big.
I always have a hankerin' for Rose. I haven't tried the Saint Roch. Lirac? I served up a Chateau de Segries from Tavel at our blind Rose tasting. Yummilicious. It wasn't popular with everyone though...some felt there was too much of an onion skin in the nose and on the palate. I picked it up, but didn't feel it took too much away from the wine.
Look forward to seeing you when the fruit rolls in.
The Torii Mor Pinot Gris
The Torii Mor Pinot Gris was very nice....perfect for the unusually warm weather we have been having. I like all the TM wines but I don't think I've ever had their dessert wine though. We visited there several years ago in the early, wet springtime. TM is down a long, dirt road and the tasting room is designed with Japanese-influence. The surrounding trees were so moss-covered that I felt like moss might start growing on me too.
The Saint Roch is a typical Provencal Rose and it's cheap ($11). It's 65% Cinsault, 35% Grenache.
We are going to a friend's house for a rose' tasting tonight. "Tasting" may be a stretch, because while he is opening a large variety of roses, we aren't doing a serious tasting. Just a social event with some lovely roses and sausages from the local sausage meister. My kind of summer evening!
