I am growing New York Fredonia grapes in Chicago Illinois. I have the grapevines enclosed in a 20 foot x 12 foot x 9 foot high wire mesh cage to keep the birds out. Some of the new vine tips with buds have escaped through the wire mesh. Does anybody know if it will be harmful to prune these tips at this time of the year?
