From Enowiki, the free online winemaking encyclopedia

A clone is a population of plants that have all descended from the same single parent via vegetative propagation. A new clone occurs in nature by genetic mutation in a dividing cell, with all new vines from this clone carrying the same genetic change. The clone is still similar enough to the parent plant to be considered the same variety.
Variations in clones of the same grape variety can influence viticultural issues, such as the yield, berry size, clusters per vine, fruit rot susceptibility and flavor composition.
