Veraison in California vineyards starts the countdown to harvest

We're back at Grist Vineyard to get a look at how the grapes are coming now that they have almost finished their transition from green to purple. This stage in a grape's life is called veraison. The color change is the visible sign that the vines are switching from pushing green growth to focusing on ripening the fruit that is on the vine.
