Coming into S.F. from Chicago for the Syrah/Zin seminar on June 5th.  Really excited about meeting the people at Crushpad for the very first time. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can about the process.

My first Wine

Rick Saturday, April 19th '08 at 1pm

The wife and I are seriously considering taking a stab at winemaking through Crushpad. It's an apprehensive but exciting feeling. This will either be one of the dumbest ideas I've ever had in my life or be one of the greatest experiments I have ever performed! My mind has been like a sponge the few weeks trying to deseminate all the information. I have a background in pharmaceutical fermentation, but this will be a new experience for me if we do indeed persue this.

Getting started

jarbanas Sunday, April 13th '08 at 4pm

Everyone is now on board.  Marisa, Dennis "The Bear", Carol, Steve, Brian B., Brian C., Bob, Steve, Wayne & Joe.  One of the first things we need to do is come up with a Group Name.  Any Suggestions?  And the next thing is to plan out first get together--to celebrate our beginnings.  Looking for a date in early to mid June--maybe June 12 or 13.  Bear and I are planning a road trip over to visit our vineyard on Red Mountain.  Anyone want to join us?  Joe

I'm always on the lookout for a great bottle to have with pizza. And a high-acid, earthy Sangiovese-based wine is typically
my style.
So I snagged a 2004 Rocca di Montegrossi Chianti Classico from K&L the other night. I'd have to say that I'm probably still hunting

CultVines.com should be up and runing in a few weeks.

CultVines.com is proud to announce that their new website, cultvines.com should be up and running in a few weeks. Our cult wines should be fantastic. The grapes looked wonderful and were full of flavor. We're going to age our To Kalon grand cru wine for 2 years in french oak. Our white, a Westerly (McGinley) Vinyard Roussanne will be aged for 1 year in french oak, and is described as "the white wine for red wine lovers". We can't wait to have Robert Parker and Wine Spectator try some, as we think these will be 92 point wines or better! Read more...

2007 vintage revisited

Kegger01 Thursday, January 10th '08 at 7pm

With the beginning of 2008, it is time to reflect on the 2007 vintage and how challenging it was. What a roller coaster ride that was.  At the onset of 2007 we were seeing the potential for record breaking crops with outstanding quality to boot.  The early varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc, proved to be just that. Sugar levels were near perfect and acid levels very good.  The Sauvignon Blanc will be outstanding.  Read more...
